When we think of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in the movies, we remember him wearing a white vest, blue jeans or a black leather jacket and pants. However, did you know that Wolverine first appeared in The Incredible Hulk wearing a very colorful yellow and blue superhero costume? The costumes shown above all show that Wolverine has the muscle and strength to defend himself and others. As mentioned above, the character of Wolverine first appeared in Marvel Comic’s Incredible Hulk No.180 in 1974. He didn’t have his trademark claws at this time and we knew nothing else about him except that he was a superhuman agent of the Canadian government.
Then, in 1975, the character was further developed and appeared in X-Men. Here we find out that Wolverine was born James Howlett, commonly known as Logan, a mutant who has super-enhanced physical powers as well as six retracting bone claws and an ability to heal himself from practically any wound, disease or toxin.
As a result of his super abilities he joins the Canadian Defense Ministry but is forcibly taken by the Weapon X program where they fused adamantium claws onto his bones. Later he is recruited by Professor Charles Xavier who leads a new team of the mutant X-Men.
So what makes Wolverine such an amazing superhero? First of all his has both natural and artificially enhanced abilities. His natural abilities include his amazing ability to heal himself from any physical and psychological traumas as well as truly awesome stamina and agility.
He also has animalistic tendencies with pronounced canines and three retractable claws which originally were bone. However, during the Weapon X program he had bionic implants. He even has a heightened sense of smell that allows him to track anyone by their scent, enhanced hearing and super sight that allows him to see great distances.
Wolverine is admirably played by Hugh Jackman in the X-Men movie series where we get to meet all the other amazing mutants such as Storm, Jean Grey, Beast, Cyclops, Rogue and Nightcrawler.
Then there are the members of the Brotherhood of Mutants such as Magneto and Mystique and Team X members such as William Stryker. The three X-Men Movies was followed by X-Men Origins: Wolverine in 2009 which was a prequel that focused on the character of Wolverine and his time with Team X. There is said to be future X-Men movies already planned.
